WP7 is the experimental validation within the OASE project. This WP comprises lab trials which experimentally verify relevant parameters and hence feasibility of the systems and architectures defined in WP3 and WP4. WP7 will also provide feedback into WPs 2-6 and 8.
The lab trails are split into two sub-WPs (WP7a, WP7b) which are associated with the two systems vendors in the project. For both parts, the respective vendor will have the technical lead.
The split will allow the comparison of two different variants of the proposed NG access solutions (on the systems level, depending on the requirements defined in the other WPs). The split also considers the IP protection requirements of both vendors.
WP7 considers both, all relevant hardware/systems concept aspects as well as selected basic operational and systems management aspects. Since hardware and software (management systems, possibly also a Control Plane) have to be provided which are not based on existing systems and configurations, the respective research and technological development effort is part of this WP.
Main WP7 objectives can be summarized as follows:
• Provide two independent testbeds in order to test, and compare against each other, two versions of NG-OA systems as specified in WP3 and WP4
• Experimentally verify and, if applicable, quantify all relevant architecture-related and systems hardware parameters as defined in WP3 and WP4
• Experimentally verify and, if applicable, quantify selected (basic) operational concepts functionalities and parameters
• Provide feedback to WP2-WP6 and WP8.
