Six metrics that define the required performance were examined at the workshop:
1. Data Rate
2. Energy Consumption
3. Power Consumption
4. Cost [$ per bit or $ per Gigabit per second]
5. Latency
6. Network Capacity Utilization
The list of key metrics were analyzed and prioritized, reviewed and established, and a figure of merit defined. Recommendations for future research were established, based on present bottlenecks and future generation requirements.
